Sea safety campaign for the elderly
Every year, an average of 373 people lose their lives in Greek waters, with approximately 80% of these incidents involving people over the age of 60.
“Our summers together are unforgettable… Let’s not allow them to end before their time.”
We follow basic safety rules:
- Never swim alone.
- Do not swim straight out and far away from the shore.
- Do not enter the water suddenly.
- Do not swim until you are exhausted.
- Always consult your doctor before starting your summer swimming activities.
Through the “Safe Sea for People Aged 60+” campaign, Safe Water Sports, with the support of the Ministry of Health, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) and IDIKA, aims to provide citizens with reliable information, raise awareness and promote water-safety education.
