11th May was proclaimed as a National Day for the Prevention of sea-related accidents & drownings by the Hellenic Parliament in collaboration with the Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy by by the Law 4597/2010, Issue No1, after a proposition of Safe Water Sports. 

This initiative is unique since it aims to raise awareness of society and plans to put all schools on that day, in the centre in order to implement awareness campaigns and activities that symbolize the commitment of everyone to the prevention strategy.

The vision of the Organization is that this day will pass on an international level and will be constituted by other countries too, so as to form an International Day for the Prevention of Sea-Related Accidents and Drownings.
